Staying safe in quarantine

  • Use touchless payment method.
  • Ensure that the restaurant is not offering buffet, salad bars and drink-filling stations as these are deal-breakers for social distancing.


  • Ensure that the restaurant is following safe delivery standards where the delivery guy is wearing mask and gloves.
  • Contactless delivery should be done wherein the delivery agent should leave the food item at your doorstep or at a safe distance like your porch.
  • Only use online payment method to avoid getting in personal contact with the delivery executive.
  • If you go for food pickup then practice social distancing while waiting in the line.

  • Reserve your booking for a particular time in advance.
  • Ensure that the staff is following good cleaning practices between the uses of facilities available.
  • Ask the owner about the proper use of disinfecting practices used in the bathroom and locker room.
  • Barriers should be placed around equipment and entry should be blocked when someone is using it, disinfecting should be done prior and after each use.
  • Yoga blocks and foam rollers should not be available to use as these are difficult to keep clean.
  • It is better to seek virtual training from your gym to avoid any outside contact.


  • Whenever seeking any beauty appointment ask questions about safety and hygiene standards being followed as per COVID safety guidelines.
  • Ask how many clients per day they are allowing for a salon visit.
  • Ensure that all the surfaces are disinfected when you are about to visit or better still carry a spray that you can use to disinfect the surface.
  • Chairs and head rests should be disinfected.

  • Check if the grocery store you are about to visit has a website for ordering your items.
  • As a precaution, enter the store early morning to avoid any kind of rush.
  • Is it possible to order home-delivery or a pick up from a safe distance?
  • Use a disinfect spray or a wipe on the shopping cart or the basket and also at the handles or other such surfaces.
  • Touchless payment methods should be available at the grocery store.
  • Maintain 2 meters of social distancing if you need to stand in line.


  • Better practice is internet or virtual banking. If not, then it is better to use disinfecting wipes and sprays at the surfaces of the bank.
  • Ensure that social distancing is maintained at the banks.
  • At time banks only accept limited entry, you may need to wait, it is better that you wait outside in your car to be safe.
  • The bank you are visiting should be following COVID safety guidelines issued by the government.


  • Prepare a list of medicines that you want to purchase at a pharmacy when you are visiting it in person. So, you can hand it over to the person and they can fetch it for you.
  • Call to ask if they are offering a curbside pickup or drive-thru window for customer safety.
  • Are they delivering at home on call or do they have a website where you can order your medicines at home?
  • Ask your doctor to prescribe you larger medicine supply if you require essential medicines like for blood pressure patients, diabetic or someone with regular heart health. Then you can call in the pharmacy to deliver you at home. This is to avoid your frequent visits at the pharmacy.

Massage therapy

  • Ask for the precautions and the COVID guidelines that the massage therapist should be following.
  • Number of people visiting the place should be limited or time slots be assigned for 2-3 customers at a given time not more than that.
  • The rooms should be disinfected or ask them to do it in your presence to ensure your personal safety.
  • The therapist should be using fresh disposable linens, clean fresh supply of all the items used.
  • Hygiene protocols should be in place and be used by the therapist prior to your session.
  • Enquire if the massage parlor is following the guidelines of checking the health of their therapist prior to allowing them resume their duty?

It is for your own safety and the safety of your loved one, nothing that is imposed by another. The guidelines for safety from COVID may be strict but it is all in a good spirit to ensure that people follow it religiously and keep the community safe.
